Private Medical Insurance

Get swift private medical treatment when you need it the most.

Prompt treatment to help get you back on your feet as soon as possible.

Health insurance covers the cost of private healthcare and offers you prompt treatment, from seeing a specialist for diagnosis to having treatment in hospital.

It can be tailored to suit your lifestyle, needs and budget, with low cost options through to comprehensive cover available. There are many types of policies available, each offering different levels of benefits. We can give you advice and guidance on which policy best suits your needs.

What is the difference between an out-patient, in-patient and day-patient?

Out-patient is when you attend an appointment at a hospital or client, but are not admitted and don’t stay overnight. In-patient is when you are admitted to hospital and occupy a bed for medical reasons. Day-patient treatment is when you are admitted to a hospital or day-patient unit because you need treatment, but do not need to stay overnight.

What if I have an existing condition?

Most insurers won’t cover a pre-existing condition. This is usually defined as anything you have had medical assistance for (including consultations and medication) within five years prior of a policy starting. However, they may review the condition (usually after two years) provided you don’t have any symptoms, or have not received any treatment, tests or advice (even a GP consultation) during the two year period.

Are chronic conditions covered?

Chronic conditions aren’t usually covered. A chronic condition is a long-term ailment that has no known cure and needs ongoing or long-term monitoring through consultations, examinations, check ups and/or tests. However, providers may pay for treatment for acute symptoms of a chronic condition that flares up, which is likely to quickly get you back to your previous state of health, without having to receive prolonged treatment.
